C1 driver's license allows driving small passenger vehicles with 9 seats or less (including 9 seats), and light/small trucks with a total mass of 4500KG or less (including 4500KG), vehicle length of 6 meters or less (including 6 meters), and approved load capacity of 1500KG or less (including 1500KG). Permitted vehicle types for C1 license: The driving scope of C1 license covers small and mini passenger vehicles, as well as light and mini trucks; light, small, and mini special operation vehicles; small passenger vehicles with seating capacity of 9 people or less. Vehicles that C1 license cannot drive: Large buses, tractor trucks, city buses, medium buses, large trucks, ordinary three-wheel motorcycles, ordinary two-wheel motorcycles, mopeds, wheeled self-propelled machinery, trolleybuses, and trams. Additionally, C1 license cannot drive vehicles with more than 9 seats or trucks exceeding 6 meters in total length.
When I first got my C1 driver's license, I was thinking about this - with a C1 license you can drive small trucks, but they must be pickups or light trucks with a total mass not exceeding 4,500 kg and a cargo capacity below 1,500 kg. These vehicles are quite convenient for daily deliveries. I've driven my friend's Changan mini-truck before, and it felt decent - acceleration is a bit slow but sufficient. For large trucks like semi-trailers, absolutely not - those require C or B licenses. Driving them illegally would get you stopped by traffic police, with points deducted and fines imposed, plus high risks. I recommend checking the vehicle type on the registration certificate and consulting experienced drivers for details to avoid accidents.
