Can a C License Drive a Motorcycle?

According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Public Security, the vehicle types that a C driver's license can drive include small cars, small automatic transmission cars, low-speed trucks, and three-wheeled cars. For three-wheeled motorcycles, a D license is required; for two-wheeled motorcycles, an E license is needed; and for light motorcycles, an F license is necessary. Therefore, legally speaking, holding a C license does not permit driving a motorcycle. If a C1 driver's license is used to drive a motorcycle, it is considered unlicensed driving. The C1 license will be deducted 12 points at once in addition to a fine. The vehicle types permitted by a C1 license are those with blue license plates. Generally, small vehicles with blue license plates can be driven with a C1 license. All small automatic or manual transmission cars can be driven with a C1 license, which are the basic vehicle types permitted by the C1 license. Light, small, and micro special operation vehicles can also be driven with a C1 license. There are three types of motorcycle licenses: D license: Allows driving ordinary three-wheeled motorcycles and vehicles permitted by the E license; including sidecar motorcycles, Shifeng agricultural three-wheelers, and regular or reverse three-wheelers. E license: Permits driving ordinary two-wheeled motorcycles and vehicles allowed by the F license. It is strictly prohibited to drive three-wheelers with an E license, as it does not match the permitted vehicle type. F license: Light motorcycles with a displacement of 50cc (commonly known as blue plate); of course, the F license does not allow driving D/E type vehicles.
I have a C driver's license and usually drive cars just fine. That day, my friend's motorcycle was idle, so I thought I'd give it a try. However, I was stopped by traffic police after riding less than two kilometers. They said a C license only covers cars, and for motorcycles, you need to get an E or D license separately. Otherwise, it's considered unlicensed driving. I was fined 500 yuan and had points deducted—what a huge loss! The handling of a motorcycle is completely different from a car; it's unstable when turning and easy to fall, making it particularly dangerous. Later, I obediently enrolled in a driving school to get a motorcycle license, and it took me nearly two weeks to pass. I advise everyone not to take this risk—safety comes first. If you really enjoy riding motorcycles, go through the proper channels to get a license. Don’t cause trouble for yourself and your family like I did with this experience.
