Driving a semi-trailer requires an A2 driver's license. A B2 driver's license cannot drive a semi-trailer. A B2 license allows driving heavy and medium-duty trucks; large, heavy, and medium-sized special operation vehicles; and vehicle types permitted by C1, C2, C3, C4, and M licenses. Conditions for upgrading to an A2 license: If there are unresolved traffic violations, the upgrade cannot be applied for; must have held a B1 or B2 license for at least two years; must be between 22 and 60 years old; must not have accumulated 12 penalty points in the two scoring cycles prior to application. According to the "Regulations on the Business of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses" issued by the public security department, motor vehicle driver's licenses are classified into 15 levels: A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, C1, C2, C3, C4, D, E, F, M, N, and P. The vehicle types permitted by each license level are as follows: An A1 license permits driving large passenger vehicles. An A2 license permits driving tractors and heavy or medium-duty full or semi-trailer combinations. An A3 license permits driving city buses with a capacity of 10 or more passengers. A B1 license permits driving heavy passenger vehicles. A C1 license permits driving small and mini passenger vehicles. A C2 license permits driving small and mini automatic transmission passenger vehicles. A C3 license permits driving low-speed trucks (formerly four-wheel agricultural transport vehicles). A C4 license permits driving three-wheeled vehicles (formerly three-wheel agricultural transport vehicles). An M license permits driving wheeled self-propelled machinery. An N license permits driving trolleybuses. A P license permits driving trams. Requirements for applying for a B2 driver's license: Age between 20 and 60; height must be at least 1.55 meters for large vehicles; must study in the place of residence (within the prefecture-level city of the registered residence) and not in a temporary residence. If the original license is from another region, it must be transferred back to the original place of residence for study. Naked or corrected vision must reach at least 5.0 on the logarithmic visual acuity chart; no color blindness; must apply for the license directly or have held any license for at least one year. No record of accumulating 12 penalty points in the past year. Local residents must apply in their registered residence. Non-local residents can apply in their temporary residence. Active military personnel (including armed police) must apply in their place of residence. Foreign nationals must apply in their place of stay or residence.
