Automatic Transmission: Right Foot on Brake or Accelerator?
1 Answers
In an automatic transmission vehicle, the right foot operates the accelerator. Precautions for gear shifting in automatic transmission vehicles: 1. Do not press the accelerator pedal when shifting gears; 2. Do not immediately press the accelerator pedal hard after engaging a gear; 3. The vehicle can only be started in P or N gear; 4. Removing the gear lever from P gear requires pressing the brake pedal; 5. Do not shift into N gear while driving to coast; 6. Do not push into P gear while the vehicle is moving; 7. When changing direction, switching between D and R gears should only be done after the vehicle has come to a complete stop. The gears in an automatic transmission vehicle are: 1. P gear (Parking gear), used for long-term parking of the vehicle; 2. R gear (Reverse gear), engaged when the vehicle needs to move backward; 3. N gear (Neutral gear), engaged when the vehicle is parked for a short time without turning off the engine; 4. D gear (Drive gear), when the gear lever is in D gear, the vehicle automatically shifts gears based on throttle opening and speed data; 5. S gear (Sport mode), makes the vehicle drive more sportily; 6. M gear (Manual mode), when the gear lever is in M gear, shifting is done manually by the driver; 7. L gear (Low gear), used for low-speed driving.
