Audi Q3 Horn Not Working and Airbag Light On Fault
1 Answers
Safety airbag light on and horn not working is generally caused by a damaged airbag clock spring. This airbag indicator light signals a fault in the airbag system, which is unrelated to the horn circuit. The wiring and fuses need to be checked separately. Part of the horn wiring and airbag wiring are integrated together, usually located at the steering wheel and combination switch area. If there's abnormal noise from the steering wheel clock spring, it indicates the clock spring is damaged and cannot be repaired. It must be replaced with a new one at a repair shop or 4S store. The steering wheel is the wheel-shaped device used to control the direction of cars, ships, aircraft, etc. Its function is to convert the force applied by the driver on the steering wheel edge into torque, which is then transmitted to the steering shaft. The clock spring is a ring-shaped component connecting the airbag. Its design ensures that the airbag can follow the steering wheel's rotation while maintaining electrical current flow. The internal wires won't break due to frequent rotational deformation, keeping the airbag operational at all times. If there's an issue with the clock spring, the airbag may become inoperative, and accidental grounding could even cause unintended deployment. Steering wheel wiring is typically installed above the combination switch inside the vehicle's steering wheel or on the steering column sheet metal. It mainly consists of flexible flat cables, relatively rotating housings, wiring harnesses (conductive leads), connectors, and neutral pins.
