When I was learning to ride a bike as a kid, it was in the open space of our village, around the age of ten. Back then, there was no formal driving license test for bicycles. I remember my parents just let me ride on the road once they saw I was steady, at most reminding me to wear a helmet and not to ride too fast. Nowadays in the city, children usually start learning to ride a bike in the upper grades of elementary school or early middle school. It's recommended to start at around 12 years old for safety, as they can better follow traffic rules, like watching traffic lights when crossing the street and not riding into car lanes. Safety first, right? Although there's no official test, parents or schools might organize some simple training, which is like an internal test. I still miss those simpler times when it wasn't as complicated as getting a car driver's license. You just needed to judge the right age yourself. Too young, and kids are prone to falls and injuries, so it's better to be a bit more mature and steady.
