Are There Two Attempts for Subject One Exam?

The driving license Subject One exam has no limit on the number of attempts. According to the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses," candidates can take the Subject One exam twice on the same day. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, a free retake is allowed for the second attempt. If the second attempt also fails, the Subject One exam for that session is terminated, and the candidate can only schedule another exam after ten days. Subject One, also known as the theoretical exam or driver's theory test, is part of the motor vehicle driving license assessment. The exam covers foundational driving theory, road safety laws and regulations, local regulations, and related knowledge. The test is computer-based with a time limit of 45 minutes. The passing score for Subject One is 90 points. The exam consists of 100 questions, including single-choice and true/false questions, each worth 1 point, totaling 100 points. If a candidate answers 11 questions incorrectly, the system will automatically submit the exam and end the test. Subject One exam content includes: driving license and motor vehicle management regulations; road traffic conditions and rules; road traffic safety violations and penalties; road traffic accident handling regulations; basic motor vehicle knowledge; local regulations; knowledge of braking systems and safety devices for large and medium-sized passenger and cargo vehicles; specialized knowledge for wheeled self-propelled machinery, trams, and trolleybuses. Subject One exam precautions: Candidates should dress appropriately (no slippers), avoid bringing electronic devices or bags into the exam hall, carry their ID card, and queue to enter the waiting area. Observe the instructions and procedures on the large screen, and store personal belongings in lockers before entering the exam hall. Upon entering, verify identity at the assigned seat and begin the exam. Ensure the camera is aligned properly and follow exam discipline. If the first attempt fails, a same-day retake is allowed. If the retake also fails, a new appointment must be scheduled with payment. After the exam, queue to collect and sign the score report; unsigned reports are invalid. There is no limit on the number of Subject One exam appointments. Each subject allows one exam attempt, with one retake if unsuccessful. If the retake is also failed or skipped, the exam session ends, and the candidate must reschedule. In contrast, Subject Two and Subject Three allow only five exam attempts each, with rescheduling permitted after ten days. If the Subject Three safe driving theory exam (often called Subject Four, though not officially recognized in the Ministry of Public Security's Order No. 123) is failed, the passed road driving skills exam results remain valid. The driving test consists of three subjects: Subject One (traffic laws and regulations), Subject Two (field driving skills), and Subject Three (road driving skills and safe driving theory). The safe driving theory exam is conducted after Subject Three, hence commonly referred to as Subject Four, though it is not an official term.
