Are There Diesel-Powered Sedans?

Currently, there are no diesel-powered sedans available on the market. Previously, diesel-powered sedans included the Volkswagen Jetta 1.9 (equipped with the Volkswagen SDI diesel engine), Volkswagen Bora 1.9 (equipped with the Volkswagen TDI diesel engine), and older models like the A6 TDI. Characteristics of Diesel Engines: Advantages include high torque and excellent fuel economy. The working process of a diesel engine shares many similarities with that of a gasoline engine, with each working cycle also going through the four strokes: intake, compression, power, and exhaust. Development of Diesel Engines: Diesel is represented in English as "Diesel," named in honor of the inventor of the diesel engine, Rudolf Diesel. Diesel engines are widely used and hold a relatively central position in their industrial chain. Over the past decade, the diesel engine manufacturing industry has formed a series of supporting enterprises.
I've seen quite a few diesel-powered compact cars, with European brands like Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz frequently releasing diesel versions of some models. In the Chinese market, although rare, they do exist, such as the imported Audi A4 diesel variant. Diesel engines have obvious advantages, such as fuel efficiency, being 20-30% more economical than gasoline cars, making them suitable for long-distance driving. However, they also have many drawbacks, including loud noise, difficulty in cold starts, and the need for preheating in winter. Environmentally, diesel engines emit more particulate matter, affecting air quality. Coupled with recent policy shifts toward electric and hybrid vehicles, diesel cars are becoming increasingly rare. I once drove a diesel sedan and felt that the acceleration was smooth, but maintenance was more troublesome than with gasoline cars, with parts being expensive and hard to find. If considering a purchase, I recommend first checking local gas station support to avoid future hassles. Diesel vehicles are more commonly used in SUVs or commercial vehicles, with fewer personal sedans opting for diesel. However, choosing the right brand can still offer a great driving experience.
