Are the Rear Suspensions of the Alphard and Vellfire the Same?

The rear suspensions of the Alphard and Vellfire are the same. Taking the 2019 Alphard and 2019 Vellfire as examples, both models use a double-wishbone independent suspension system. For instance, the Alphard has a length of 4975mm, width of 1850mm, height of 1945mm, a wheelbase of 3000mm, and features a front-engine, four-wheel-drive layout. In terms of power, the Alphard is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with an e-CVT continuously variable transmission, delivering a maximum power of 86kW and a maximum torque of 198Nm. The engine also incorporates hybrid injection technology and utilizes an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block.
I've studied the chassis structures of these two MPVs, and indeed the rear suspensions of the Alphard and Vellfire are completely identical. Both employ a double-wishbone independent suspension system, consisting of upper and lower A-shaped control arms. This configuration ensures both rear passenger comfort and excellent lateral support. Interestingly, Toyota deliberately preserved this design commonality—like twin brothers sharing the same skeleton but wearing different clothes. Although the two models feature distinctly different exterior styles (the Alphard follows a luxury route while the Vellfire leans sporty), when you lift the underbody panels, you'll find identical spring diameters, shock absorber strokes, and even alignment bolt specifications. The road feel when crossing speed bumps during daily driving is remarkably similar too, with rear passengers hardly able to tell any difference. Should rear suspension components require replacement, the parts inventory at 4S dealerships is fully interchangeable between both models.
