Are the rear brakes of the ATSL Brembo?

The rear brakes of the ATSL are Brembo. Brake pads, also known as automotive brake linings, refer to the friction materials fixed on the brake drums or brake discs that rotate with the wheels. The friction linings and friction blocks bear external pressure and generate friction to achieve the purpose of vehicle deceleration. Brake pad maintenance methods: 1. Inspect the brake shoes every 5,000 kilometers, checking the remaining thickness and the wear status of the shoes, as well as whether the wear on both sides is even and the return is smooth; 2. Replace with qualified brake pads; 3. After replacing the brake pads, use a tool to push the brake caliper piston back; 4. After replacement, step on the brake pedal to eliminate the gap between the shoes and the brake disc; 5. After replacing the brake shoes, a break-in period of 200 kilometers is required to achieve stable braking performance.
As a former owner of the ATS-L, I must clarify that the rear brakes on the ATS-L are not entirely Brembo components. In standard configurations, the rear brakes typically consist of parts manufactured by General Motors or sourced from other suppliers. Only high-performance versions like the V-Series come standard with a full Brembo brake system, including the rear wheels. For the standard model, the rear brakes might use discs and pads from Bosch or Delphi, which offer slightly more modest performance. However, even without Brembo, regular maintenance—such as checking brake pad wear every six months—ensures no major issues, as safe driving outweighs brand prestige. Some enthusiasts opt to upgrade to Brembo parts later, but the cost is significant; it's advisable to consult the vehicle manual for original specifications before making any modifications.
