Are Rearview Mirrors Covered by Auto Damage Insurance Claims?

Rearview mirrors damaged alone without obvious collision marks are not covered. Damage to rearview mirrors caused by evident collision marks is covered under auto damage insurance. Legal provisions: According to Article 7 of the Auto Damage Insurance Clauses: The insurer shall not be liable for the following losses and expenses of the insured vehicle: natural wear and tear, rust, mechanical failure, damage to tires alone; broken glass alone, scratches on the vehicle body without obvious collision marks, damage to sunroofs and rearview mirrors alone; losses caused by direct manual fuel supply or high-temperature baking; losses caused by spontaneous combustion or fires of unknown origin. Voluntary fulfillment of insurance contracts: If the insurance contract stipulates the time limit for indemnity or payment of insurance benefits, the insurer shall fulfill the obligation of indemnity or payment of insurance benefits in accordance with the agreement. If the insurer fails to fulfill the obligations specified in the preceding paragraph in a timely manner, in addition to paying the insurance benefits, it shall compensate the insured or the beneficiary for the losses incurred as a result.
I remember last year my car's rearview mirror got scratched by a roadside branch. When I called the insurance company, I found out it depends on the situation. They generally don't cover standalone rearview mirror damage unless you purchased additional coverage or other parts were also damaged in the accident. The auto damage insurance clause specifically states that separate components like mirrors and headlights fall under the deductible range. That time I went through all the trouble for nothing and ended up paying 800 yuan out of pocket for a new one. My advice is to first check the exemption clauses in your policy, then take photos to document the damage scene. If both the mirror and door are damaged together, you might qualify for compensation. Try not to park too close to bushes or walls in the future - the repair costs could cover half a year's worth of fuel.
