Are Natural Gas Vehicles Considered New Energy Vehicles?
1 Answers
Natural gas vehicles do not belong to the category of new energy vehicles. Types of new energy vehicles: Pure electric vehicles, as the name suggests, are completely powered by rechargeable batteries. Practical models in this category usually adopt a single-motor layout. Hybrid vehicles are a broad classification that includes hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and range-extended electric vehicles (REEV). Disadvantages of new energy vehicles: High energy consumption: Although new energy vehicles do not consume gasoline, they require electricity. In terms of energy consumption, new energy vehicles do not significantly reduce energy usage compared to traditional fuel-powered vehicles. Limited charging infrastructure: While some first-tier cities have gradually popularized charging stations, the number of charging stations nationwide remains insufficient. Poor safety: Compared to fuel-powered vehicles, new energy vehicles actually have worse safety records, with frequent incidents of spontaneous combustion. Additionally, sudden power loss can be dangerous, especially when stranded on highways. Regarding range issues, the battery efficiency of new energy vehicles is also poorer in winter, making them more prone to safety accidents on the road.
