Are Macan Wheels Forged or Cast?

Macan wheels are cast. The wheel hub is the rotating part of the wheel rim connected by columns to the wheel core, which is the metal component that supports the tire and is mounted on the axle. Taking the Porsche Macan 2020 model as an example, it belongs to the medium-sized SUV category, with body dimensions of 4,696 mm in length, 1,923 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,807 mm. The Porsche Macan 2020 is equipped with an inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum horsepower of 252 hp and a maximum power output of 185 kW. The engine reaches its maximum power at 5,000 to 6,750 rpm. It adopts a front-engine, all-wheel-drive layout, with a double-wishbone independent suspension at the front and a multi-link independent suspension at the rear.
I've been driving the Macan for two years and have really looked into the OEM wheel issue. The base model usually comes with cast wheels, which are cheaper, and you can feel the higher unsprung mass, especially when going over speed bumps—the feedback is quite heavy. But the options list includes forged wheels, and I paid extra to upgrade my S model. The forging process is truly impressive; each wheel is about 3 kg lighter, making the steering noticeably more responsive during turns and improving tire grip on mountain roads. However, you need to be careful—some aftermarket wheels claim to be forged but are actually flow-formed. Genuine forged wheels have clear mold marks on the inside. For daily use, I don’t find cast wheels bad, except that brake dust gets stuck in the gaps and is a pain to clean during car washes.
