Are Car Key Batteries Universal?
1 Answers
Car key batteries are not universal. Each key's battery has a model number, and currently, there are about 10 types of car key batteries available. When replacing the battery, it is essential to first confirm the battery number and then replace it accordingly. Common battery numbers for car keys include 2032, 2025, 2016, 1632, 1620, and 1616. You only need to purchase the battery with the corresponding number to replace the key's battery. Among these, the CR2016 coin-type battery is commonly used. This type of battery has a voltage of 3V, while car key batteries typically operate on 9V. The battery diameter is 20mm, and the thickness is 1.6mm. When replacing the batteries, it is usually recommended to replace all three batteries at the same time.
