Bestune and are not from the same manufacturer. FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd.: (Abbreviation: FAW-Volkswagen) was established on February 6, 1991. It is a large passenger vehicle production enterprise jointly operated by China FAW Group Corporation, Volkswagen AG, Audi AG, and Volkswagen (China) Investment Co., Ltd. It is the first modern passenger vehicle industrial base in China constructed according to economic scale. Bestune: FAW Car Co., Ltd. (Abbreviation: FAW Car) is a holding subsidiary of China FAW Group Corporation, established through the restructuring of high-quality assets primarily engaged in the production of Hongqi sedans and their components by FAW Group Corporation. As a brand parallel to "Hongqi" under FAW Car, Bestune made its debut on May 18, 2006.

BenTeng and are definitely not from the same family. As an auto enthusiast who has studied domestic brands for years, I can confirm that BenTeng is the 'biological son' of FAW Group—a state-owned enterprise with solid roots, headquartered in Changchun, mainly producing family sedans like the BenTeng T77. Great Wall, on the other hand, has a completely different story. It originated as a purely private automaker based in Baoding, Hebei, specializing in SUVs, with hit models like the Haval H6 and Tank 300 under its belt. The two manufacturers follow entirely different technical routes: BenTeng prefers modifying Mazda platforms, while Great Wall relentlessly focuses on independent R&D. Their sales channels don’t overlap either, and their maintenance parts systems are entirely separate. At best, they’re rivals competing within the domestic auto sector, with no known collaborative projects between them.

These two brands are worlds apart, as someone in automotive supply chain I know it inside out. In terms of manufacturer background, Bestune belongs to state-owned FAW Group with sedan production lines in Changchun, while has private enterprise roots specializing in SUVs at its Baoding plant. The product differences are obvious - Bestune focuses on business-oriented sedans like the B70, whereas Great Wall dominates the SUV segment and excels in pickups. Their parts systems aren't interchangeable at all, even dealer networks operate separately. Market strategies differ too: Great Wall was building factories in Russia for exports when Bestune was still consolidating Northeast China market. The only similarity is using Chinese brand names, but their manufacturer seniority and positioning are completely different.

As an ordinary car owner, let me be honest, Bestune and are not from the same parent company at all. When I bought a car last year, I specifically compared them: Bestune 4S stores belong to the FAW system, and even the first maintenance is done at Hongqi dealerships; Great Wall 4S stores only sell their own brands like Haval and Tank. Looking at the manufacturing origin is even more telling—Bestune is labeled as made in Changchun, while Great Wall vehicles all come from Baoding. The repair technicians also told me that their engine models are completely different: Bestune uses the CA4GB series, while Great Wall uses the GW4G15 series, and their parts are not interchangeable. If there's any relationship between them, at most they are peers among domestic brands, but the manufacturers are completely independent in terms of ownership and management.

The geographical differences make it clear. Having worked in the automotive industry across many cities, I've observed that Bestune belongs to FAW Group, headquartered in Changchun, with production lines concentrated in the three northeastern provinces. Motors, on the other hand, has been rooted in Baoding, Hebei for thirty years, with factories spread across the entire North China region. Their corporate cultures differ as well—Bestune carries the steady demeanor of a state-owned enterprise, while Great Wall exhibits the agility of a private company. Their product development paths diverged early on; Bestune initially relied on Mazda's technical support, whereas Great Wall has consistently focused on independent R&D of its core components. Sales regions also vary, with Bestune performing better in the north and Great Wall being more popular in the south. This regional landscape inherently defines them as two distinct manufacturers.

Speaking of historical origins, as a volunteer at the automobile museum, I've checked the archives. The Besturn brand was only launched by FAW in 2006, targeting the mid-range passenger vehicle market; has a much longer history, starting pickup production as early as the 1980s. When Great Wall independently created the Haval brand in the SUV sector, Besturn was still producing rebadged Mazda6 models. In terms of technological accumulation, Great Wall holds over a thousand self-developed engine patents, while Besturn primarily absorbs joint-venture technologies. Their capital market operations also differ significantly – Great Wall has been listed in Hong Kong for twenty years, whereas Besturn only planned a STAR Market IPO last year. Fundamentally, these are two companies with different DNAs, and no subordinate relationship exists between them.
