Are Automotive Sealing Strips Useful?

Automotive sealing strips are useful as they serve to fill various gaps between vehicle body components, providing functions such as shock absorption, waterproofing, dustproofing, sound insulation, and decoration. Automotive sealing strips are applied to door panels, door frames, front and rear windshields, engine hoods, and trunk lids. Considerations for replacing sealing strips include: 1. Before replacement, carefully compare the type of sealing strip used on the vehicle to select the correct model, as different vehicles use different sealing strips; 2. After selecting the appropriate sealing strip, remove the old one and clean the area where the new strip will be applied before installation; 3. Leave one or two drainage holes on the door, and take care not to block these holes when applying the new sealing strip.
As an everyday driver, I find weatherstrips incredibly useful. Especially during rainy seasons or on muddy roads, they effectively prevent rainwater and dust from entering the car, keeping the seats and floor dry and clean. At highway speeds, they significantly reduce wind noise, making me less prone to fatigue and the overall drive more comfortable. If accidentally hitting curbs or branches, the weatherstrip may wear out and harden, requiring timely replacement—otherwise, water or air leaks can increase AC strain and fuel consumption. Maintenance is simple too; regular cleaning with a soft cloth extends their lifespan. In short, though inconspicuous, they're indispensable.
