Summary of the Role We are seeking Accounting Interns for Summer 2026 to work onsite in our Richmond office. Requirements Key Responsibilities Gain familiarity with paperless audits and audit software, audit objectives and current auditing pronouncements, practical application of accounting principles and financial statement disclosures. Gain familiarity with accounting, tax, and fixed asset tracking software, federal and state tax laws as well as their effects on businesses and individuals and how to apply them to differing situations. Develop analytical skills to identify and advise on potential tax issues as well as basic tax research skills. Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as basic research skills regarding accounting and auditing issues. Essential Functions Perform a variety of tasks under direct supervision of senior staff accountant or manager, including the following: Prepare individual, partnership and corporate tax returns and related workpapers Prepare audit, review and compilation workpapers Prepare financial statements Perform research on specific audit and tax issues as directed by senior staff Perform data input and analysis Assist with onsite financial statement audits at client offices Assist with employee benefit plan audits Complete audit test work in areas including cash, receivables, and fixed assets Prepare reconciliations Assist with preparation of financial statements Prepare federal and state tax returns for a variety of entity types Prepare and record adjusting journal entries in order to complete trial balance Calculate depreciation and amortization and prepare schedules of property and equipment Assist senior staff as needed Maintain positive attitude and desire to succeed Requirements Must be a Junior, Senior, or Master’s student pursuing a degree in Accounting Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and taking the CPA exam Reliable transportation for social events and client visits Ability to work at least 32 hours per week for a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks Why WellsColeman? Position Overview: Liberty Community Programs, a leading provider of services for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, is dedicated to fostering independence, inclusion, and personal growth for our participants. We are currently seeking a full-time Accounting Clerk to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing Account Receivable/Payable and processing insurance billing. Additionally, the Accounting Clerk will be involved in financial reporting and tax record preparation for audits. Key Responsibilities: · Managing accounts payable using QuickBooks and other programs · Handling accounts receivable/payable · Establishing and maintaining relationships with new vendors · Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures. · Processing due invoices for payments. · Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling bank for month end close. · Keep record of all transactions/receipts for reconciliation of company credit cards. Requirements Qualifications: Must have experience with processing or be familiar with Insurance billing. 10 years of experience Bachelor’s degree in business finance or related field. Must have knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare insurance billing and other healthcare functions. Must have experience with clinical codes/medical billings. Must be familiar with QuickBooks, and other accounting tools, AP/AR month end closing, forecasting, financials, etc. A minimum of 5 years utilizing (GAAP). Advanced knowledge and experiences of spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge of pivot. Understands Payroll processing. Should be familiar with ADP, Tax filing for DE9 and 941 quarterly returns with multiple entity knowledge.
