Responsibilities: Responsible for building software and identifying areas of improvement and software advancement for Benchling. The Software Engineer will design and implement back-end models and front-end components for Benchling’s complex software systems. Specifically, the Software Engineer will be responsible for: owning projects end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, and large-scale rollout; analyzing information to determine, recommend, and plan the installation of new software and modifications to existing systems; evaluating user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design; assisting with the maturing of Benchling’s tooling, best practices, and engineering processes; investigating performance issues of large scale entity registration and providing recommendations for improvements; implementing and improving testing practices for front-end and back-end systems; using languages, platforms, and programs including JavaScript, Type Script, Git, Flask, and Python to advance existing and new systems; and other duties as assigned. Wage Range: $161,640 - $171,640. Employee will report to headquarters in San Francisco, CA. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent). Requirements: One (1) year of experience in job offered or related. Other special requirements include: One (1) year of experience working with a variety programs, platforms, and languages - Must include: JavaScript, TypeScript, and front-end frameworks React and Ember; one (1) year of experience collaborating with other engineers to establish engineering best practices; one (1) year of experience developing and owning end-to-end user facing features; and one (1) year of experience managing and resolving live incidents for clients.
