Hands-on experience with diverse low-voltage and IT systems MEDIA INNOVATIONS IS EXPANDING OUR HOUSTON TECHNICIAN NETWORK Media Innovations is looking for motivated technicians throughout the Greater Houston area who want to develop their field-service skills and receive ongoing ticket-based work orders. This is a great opportunity for technicians with low-voltage, IT, cabling, or general technical experience who want to expand their skills and become self-sufficient in the field. HOW IT WORKS New technicians who require training will start at $18 per hour while training and working under the guidance of an experienced technician. Once approved to work independently, technicians can begin receiving their own ticket-based work orders. Independent work orders pay $25–$40 per hour for on-site labor. The rate is determined by the individual work order and type of service being performed, not by the technician’s experience level. Work may include: • Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, termination and troubleshooting • Network equipment installation • Routers, switches and wireless access points • Internet and connectivity troubleshooting • POTS replacement and telephone equipment • Access control • CCTV and camera systems • AV equipment • Equipment swaps and service calls • Working with remote NOCs and technical support teams OUR GOAL IS SELF-SUFFICIENCY We want to develop technicians who can receive a work order, understand the scope, arrive prepared, complete or troubleshoot the work, communicate with the appropriate support team, properly document the job, and successfully close the ticket independently. You do not have to know everything when you start. You do need to be dependable, willing to learn, mechanically inclined, comfortable troubleshooting, and able to follow instructions. TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS ✓ Valid driver’s license ✓ Reliable personal transportation ✓ Smartphone with reliable service ✓ Basic hand tools ✓ Ability to travel throughout the Houston area ✓ Ability to work from ladders and in IDF/MDF/ceiling areas ✓ Professional appearance and communication ✓ Ability to follow written scopes of work ✓ Ability to take clear job-site photos and complete documentation ✓ Dependability and willingness to learn Having your own laptop, network tester, toner/probe, ladder, drill, punchdown tools, crimpers, and other low-voltage tools is a plus.
