March 20, 2025 – Mahindra has officially taken the wraps off the BE 6 Sporteq, a heavily updated version of its popular compact electric SUV. The model arrives with a completely redesigned cabin featuring a triple-screen dashboard, a suite of new software technologies, fresh exterior colors, and a dedicated performance special edition. The launch strengthens Mahindra’s push in the global EV segment, particularly in markets where compact electric SUVs are gaining traction.
Inside, the most striking change is the wide three-screen layout that debuts from the ‘two’ trim upward. The driver gets a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display, and a dedicated passenger screen — a configuration that echoes the high-tech interiors of premium EVs. The center console has been reshaped for better ergonomics, and a new interior treatment brings softer materials and ambient lighting. Higher trims now include ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium sound system that were previously unavailable.
Mahindra has also reworked the software stack. The Sporteq introduces six new technology suites covering entertainment, navigation, vehicle settings, driver assistance, connectivity, and over-the-air updates. The updated infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the voice assistant can now control climate, windows, and drive modes. The over-the-air capability ensures the SUV can receive new features and optimizations post-purchase, a feature increasingly expected in the segment.
The performance-focused special edition receives a sportier exterior treatment — blacked-out grille, red brake calipers, and unique alloy wheels. Under the hood, Mahindra has not disclosed specific powertrain upgrades for this edition, but it is expected to offer a slightly higher power output or sharper handling calibration. The special edition will be limited in production, aimed at enthusiasts who want a more dynamic driving experience without sacrificing the BE 6’s practical footprint.
From a market perspective, the BE 6 Sporteq enters a competitive field of compact electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV, and the upcoming Volvo EX30. The triple-screen layout is rare in this price bracket, giving Mahindra a differentiation point. However, the brand still faces challenges in brand recognition and charging infrastructure in markets outside India. Mahindra’s recent partnerships with global battery suppliers and its investment in a dedicated EV platform signal a long-term commitment to international expansion.
Industry analysts note that the BE 6 Sporteq’s three-screen approach could appeal to tech-savvy buyers, especially younger demographics. “Mahindra is taking a page from luxury EVs by prioritizing digital cockpit experiences,” said Samir Patel, an automotive technology analyst at Global Auto Insights. “The challenge will be executing the software smoothness and reliability that consumers expect from a daily driver.”
Mahindra has not yet announced pricing or availability for the U.S. market. The BE 6 Sporteq is currently slated for launch in India and select export markets in the coming months. A North American introduction could follow if the company proceeds with its previously announced plans to enter the U.S. and Canadian markets with a lineup of electric SUVs. For now, the Sporteq represents Mahindra’s most advanced compact EV yet, blending technology, design, and performance in a package that aims to compete on a global stage.
