LEE, N.Y. — A two-car collision in the Town of Lee ended with a DWI arrest on Sept. 22, with one driver taken to the hospital after the impact.
Deputies from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said they spotted the wreck along State Route 26 near Weaver Road at about 9:32 p.m. while on routine patrol.
At the scene, investigators determined Cearria J. Anson, 26, of Ava, had been driving eastbound on Weaver Road. She allegedly failed to yield at the intersection and struck a southbound car on State Route 26. The other vehicle was driven by a 62-year-old Lee man.
The man sustained non-life-threatening chest injuries from air bag deployment and was evaluated at the scene before being taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for further care. His condition has not been updated by authorities.
Following the investigation, Anson was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was later released to a third party after receiving citations ordering her to appear in Town of Lee Court.
Under New York State law, a first-offense DWI is typically classified as a misdemeanor. If convicted, penalties can include jail time of up to one year, fines and a driver's license suspension.
The sheriff's office has not released additional details, including whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, and no further charges have been announced as of April 26, 2026.
