Little Rock carjacking

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A violent carjacking unfolded Monday evening, Aug. 3, when five armed men stole a gray Dodge Charger at gunpoint, struck the victim over the head with a weapon, and fired at a bystander who tried to intervene. As of June 17, 2025, Little Rock police have not yet identified or arrested any suspects, and the case remains open.

The incident began around 7:30 p.m. when police received multiple reports of shots fired near the intersection of Markham and Natural Resources Drive. Officers en route were told by dispatch that a robbery had just occurred at 9300 Treasure Hill Road, where a man had been confronted by a group of five individuals as he parked his car after returning from work.

According to police, the victim, who does not speak English, was approached by the suspects, one of whom pressed a gun to his face and struck him on the head with the weapon. Fearing for his life, the man fled on foot, leaving his vehicle behind. The suspects then drove off in the stolen Dodge Charger.

A second witness, a family member of the victim, told authorities that the suspects initially arrived in a dark-colored Dodge Challenger before switching to the Charger. When the witness attempted to intervene, the group of men opened fire in his direction. He then pursued the stolen vehicle along Reservoir Road, but turned back after the suspects continued shooting at him. Police later confirmed that a nearby apartment complex was struck by stray bullets, though no injuries were reported.

Officers later located the stolen Charger abandoned and unoccupied at the Barrington Hills Apartments, a complex about two miles from the original carjacking scene. The dark-colored Challenger used by the suspects has not been found.

The case highlights a worrying trend in central Arkansas: carjackings tied to groups of armed individuals have risen in recent years, according to local crime data. The Little Rock Police Department has urged anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Division or submit anonymous tips through the department’s mobile app. “We are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

As of this writing, no suspect descriptions have been released beyond the number of individuals involved. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The incident serves as a reminder for residents to take precautions when parking, especially in secluded areas or after dark. Law enforcement recommends locking doors, keeping windows up, and being aware of surroundings. If approached by armed individuals, experts advise complying with demands rather than resisting, as the primary goal is personal safety.

Anyone with information about the carjacking or the suspects is encouraged to call the Little Rock Police Department at (501) 371-4829 or submit a tip through the Central Arkansas Crime Stoppers hotline at (501) 340-8477.
