




Job Title: Material Handler (6140) Location: Watertown, NY 13601 Contract Length: Full Time Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour Overview Prepare, organize, and stage materials and components required for production so manufacturing teams receive the correct parts, in the correct quantities, at the right time to maintain uninterrupted workflow. Key Responsibilities Material Preparation & Kitting Read production orders, work instructions, and schedules to determine required materials. Gather, count, and organize parts and components according to specifications. Assemble kits for production jobs or workstations. Inventory Support Record materials issued for kitting activities accurately. Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies. Return unused materials to inventory following established procedures. Quality Verification Inspect materials for damage, defects, or incorrect items prior to release. Ensure kits meet quantity and quality requirements before delivery to production. Timely Delivery to Production Stage and deliver kits in alignment with production schedules. Coordinate with supervisors and production teams to prioritize urgent jobs. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures for material handling and equipment use. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Adhere to company standards for inventory control and workplace safety. Skills & Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy Organization and time management Basic inventory awareness Safe material handling practices Reliability and teamwork Problem-solving for material discrepancies Education High school diploma or equivalent Experience Manufacturing, warehousing, or material handling experience preferred Previous kitting or inventory experience is an asset Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred Knowledge & Skills Ability to read work orders, pick lists, and basic production documents Basic computer skills; ERP or inventory system experience (e.g., Epicor) an asset Ability to safely use material-handling equipment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods Work Environment Production floor environment with exposure to machinery and noise Continuous walking, standing, bending, and lifting Handling of materials up to approximately 50 lbs Use of forklifts, pallet jacks, or carts as required Performance Targets Kitting Accuracy Rate: ≥ 99% of kits prepared without quantity or part errors Measurement: Prevents rework, delays, and production stoppages On-Time Kit Delivery: ≥ 95% of kits delivered in accordance with production schedule Measurement: Ensures production lines remain supplied and operationalMeasurement: Tracks real impact on manufacturing flow Production Line Disruption Due to Material Issues: Minimal stoppages attributable to missing or incorrect materials
