Summary: The Lab Technician will process and analyze environmental media, primarily compost, performing physical, chemical, and microbiological lab tests. Highlights: 1. Opportunity to learn and follow lab safety protocols Position: Lab Technician Basic Function: • The processing and analysis of environmental media (primarily compost and compost feedstocks) Specific Duties: • Prepare environmental media samples for testing • Perform basic physical, chemical, and microbiological lab tests on environmental media • Operate and maintain lab equipment • Periodic cleaning of labware and proper disposal of processed samples • Basic data entry and recordkeeping Knowledge/Skills Required: • Basic (high school or better) knowledge of math, chemistry, and biology • Ability to carefully, conscientiously, and efficiently follow standard operating procedures • Ability to learn and follow lab safety protocols • Ability to periodically lift 50+ lbs • Ability to work while standing for more than half a work day • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks with precision • Ability to coordinate and work well with others • Lab experience a plus but not required
