Summary: The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician inspects, samples, and tests construction materials to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards. Highlights: 1. On-the-job training provided; no experience necessary Job Summary: The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician is responsible for inspecting, sampling, and testing construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality control and ensuring the safety and durability of construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Perform field and laboratory testing on construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates Conduct routine site inspections to verify compliance with project plans and specifications Collect samples and document test results accurately and thoroughly Operate and maintain testing equipment and tools Communicate findings to engineers, project managers, and clients in a clear and timely manner Prepare detailed reports outlining test procedures, results, and recommendations Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment Calibrate and troubleshoot testing equipment as needed Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Relevant certifications (e.g., ACI, NICET, WAQTC, or ICC certifications) are a plus Basic knowledge of construction materials, methods, and testing procedures Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Good written and verbal communication skills Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and work overtime Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods Work Environment: Combination of fieldwork at construction sites and laboratory testing May require travel to multiple job sites within a region Work hours may vary depending on project schedules, including early mornings Preferred Skills: Experience with field testing equipment and procedures Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant standards Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is a must This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to the successful completion of construction projects. No experience necessary, we are willing to provide on the job training for the right individual. Pay starting at $23 per hour with no experience.
