Opportunities for advancement as your skills develop Job Title: Commercial Upholstery Apprentice (Entry‐Level) Pay: $20 per hour (with escalation clause) Location: Sumner WA (Monday–Friday 6am - 3pm) Job Summary: We are looking for a hardworking, dependable individual to learn the art of commercial upholstery. This entry‐level role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‐on work, has an eye for detail, and is eager to learn a skilled trade. You will work alongside experienced upholsterers to produce high‐quality seating and interiors for restaurants, health clubs, and other commercial spaces. Responsibilities: Assist with dismantling furniture, measuring and cutting upholstery materials, and assembling products according to design specifications. Upholsterers typically lay out, measure and cut materials, replace worn springs, operate sewing machines, install padding, and fasten covering materials to frames. Learn to select appropriate fabrics, install foam and batting, repair or replace springs, and stretch and secure fabric coverings. Use hand tools and power equipment to remove old upholstery, and fit new coverings; tasks often include measuring and cutting fabric, installing foam, and smoothing out imperfections. Keep the workspace clean and organized and ensure tools and materials are stored safely. Communicate with team members to ensure jobs are completed on schedule and to quality standards. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. On‐the‐job training is provided; completion of secondary school and hands‐on training is common for entry‐level upholsterers. Strong work ethic, punctuality, and eagerness to learn. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift materials throughout the day; the job may require lifting and moving heavy objects. Basic math, measurement skills, and use measuring tools. Comfortable using hand tools, sewing machines, staple guns, and other equipment (training provided).
