Engage with embedded systems, C++/Rust, and motion control technologies We are a 35 year old machine shop and we started an additional company in 2017 that manufactures automated welding machines and now things are booming. We are looking for a Software Engineer who is driven and adaptable with experience developing software in a fast paced environment. This position seeks an engineer who has experience putting projects together with minimal guidance. Include examples of past code, circuits, or projects in your application. While the bulk of the work is working on a GUI in rust on a Raspberry Pi, the task requires a deeper understanding of how the rest of the machine operates. Basic Job Functions: - Develop the GUI on a Raspberry Pi in Rust. - Work with vendors for design, review, and implementation of new equipment. - Read (And ideally create) basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. - Create reliable and well documented software that can be safely used by operator and technician level workers. - Use knowledge of the codebase to debug issues in deployed machines. Desired Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, math or STEM discipline - 3+ years of software development experience - Familiarity with C++ and embedded systems. - Familiarity with common electrical protocols (Uart/Serial, SPI, RS485) - Be able to debug systems with oscilloscopes or logic analoyzers. - Be open to learning new software stacks - Good understanding of Linux and specifically Debian-based embedded systems. - Experience with writing production code in C++ and/or Rust - Experience with motion control systems (servos, linear motors, etc.) - Must be available 40+ hours per week - Must be able to work well and safely without close supervision. - Outstanding leadership skills with focus on safety - Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring devices - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Be a team player Please email a copy of your resume along with a cover letter telling me why you would be a good fit for this position.
