Develop and maintain Maintenance Department policies and procedures 🛠️ Roberts Hawaii is Hiring a Maintenance Manager! 🛠️ About the Role This position is responsible for ensuring all company vehicles are maintained in proper operating condition and maximizing the availability of vehicles for daily use across the Maui Bus, Tour, and School Bus division. The Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance team, enforce safety standards, and ensure operational excellence throughout the fleet. Department: Maintenance Manager Reports To: Operations Manager Status: Exempt Starting Salary: $100,000 annually Key Responsibilities: Ensure all day-to-day maintenance operations are met and vehicles are serviced according to manufacturer specifications. Plan, organize, and manage the work of maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and contracts. Implement schedule and policy changes as needed. Monitor staff compliance with safety regulations (DOT, OSHA/HIOSH) and company procedures. Conduct safety audits, provide training, and promote safe work practices. Oversee training, coaching, performance management, and discipline processes. Develop, communicate, and maintain Maintenance Department policies and procedures. Assign duties and inspect work to ensure compliance with company, state, and contract requirements. Handle correspondence, approve invoices, review payroll, budgets, purchase orders, and coordinate with vendors. Leverage systems and technologies for efficiency and accuracy. May travel to outer islands to assist with vehicle repairs and operational support. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance or shop management. At least five ASE certifications (Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Engines, Power-train, Air Conditioning, Transmission, Engine Diagnosis, etc.). Hawaii State Mechanic License required. Proficient with diagnostic equipment/scanners (OBD, Pro-ling). Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, percentages, and volume calculations. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Type 3 License required, with ability to upgrade to CDL. Knowledge of hand tools, shop equipment, renewable fuels, and green technologies. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, email) required. Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays. Passion for customer service and creating memorable experiences. Working Conditions: Standing and walking for sustained periods. Heavy work: lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting for extended periods. Oral communication and detailed listening required. Exposure to environmental hazards including moving vehicles, heat, fumes, dust, and gases. Work occurs both indoors and outdoors.
