Description

Summary: This role offers comprehensive operational training in boutique hotel hospitality, progressing from room care and front desk duties to financial and administrative management for detail-oriented individuals. Highlights: 1. Learn hotel operations from room care to advanced administration 2. Opportunity to grow into financial and systems management 3. Focus on patterns, details, and understanding a business We run two boutique hotel properties in Manhattan with a small crew, clear standards, and a strong sense of presence. To us, hospitality is both an art and a discipline. What this role actually is You'll learn our operation from the inside — room care first, then the front desk — and then grow into the side of the business most people never see: the numbers, the systems, and the administration that keep a small hotel company standing. Not a spreadsheet job. Not an office job. A hospitality job for someone whose mind goes to patterns and details. Where it starts Room care. Everyone starts here, no exceptions. You learn how a room is prepared, inspected, and turned — because you can't improve an operation you haven't done yourself. This runs a couple of weeks or more, depending on how quickly it clicks. Then the front desk. Check-ins, check-outs, guest communication, coordinating room readiness. Becoming the steady presence that anchors a shift. Where it grows Once you're solid on the floor, you take on work like: Occupancy and pricing patterns — why is Tuesday soft, are we leaving money on the table on peak weekends Cost analysis — our utilities climbed sharply last year; was that usage or rate, and what do we do about it Labor and scheduling — are we staffed right for the day we're actually having Vendor invoices, contracts, and building compliance Payroll coordination, bookkeeping, and working alongside our CPA Building the systems and SOPs that let all of the above run without heroics You won't do all of it at once, and you won't do it alone. But over time this becomes your territory. Who this is for Someone who's good with numbers and genuinely curious about a business — not because they studied finance, but because they can't help noticing when something doesn't add up. Detail-aware, calm, consistent. Comfortable learning step by step. No hotel experience required. No credentials required. We train. Who this isn't for If you're looking for an analyst or office role, or a stepping stone toward one, this isn't it. The work starts on the floor and stays connected to it. Plenty of capable people want a desk and a dataset; we need someone who wants to understand a building and the people in it, and who happens to be sharp with numbers. Pay $18/hour to start. $20 once you're solid on the foundation and holding a front desk shift on your own. $22 when you're running our busiest days independently. It grows with what you show, not the calendar. Beyond $22, as you grow into real ownership of this work, pay reflects the responsibility you're carrying. Benefits, honestly: we're small. Paid sick leave and workers' comp. No health insurance, 401(k), or paid vacation. Better you know now. We also sponsor FDNY Fire and Life Safety Director certification if you want it — voluntary, and we cover the cost. Schedule Morning 7 AM–3 PM, or Swing 3 PM–11 PM. Four to five days, weekend availability required. To apply Send your resume, a short note on why this interests you, and your availability (days and shifts). If there's a time you noticed something in numbers that others missed — at work, in a side project, anywhere — tell us about it.
