Description

Summary: This part-time Helper role involves assisting a retired lady with various indoor household tasks like baking, cooking, and canning, as well as outdoor container gardening efforts in a residential setting. Highlights: 1. Flexible work schedule with choice of days and hours 2. Opportunity to assist with household tasks and gardening 3. Suitable for high school and college students Responses received as of April 27th - 4 (none followed my instructions) Note: Most applicants fail to be hired because they do not follow the instructions found herein. If you really want to work, then take the time to read this and follow my instructions. It's that simple. _________________________________________________ I, a retired lady living 8 miles south of Charlottesville (barely off of Route 29), need a Helper to perform various inside and outside tasks in a residential setting on a part-time basis. Must have a current Virginia driver's License and own means of transportation. Inside tasks are typical 'kitchen work' which include baking, cooking, canning, and dehydrating foods. Outside tasks are typical gardening efforts needed in container gardening. Pay is $15/hr to $30/hr depending on your previous experience. High-school and college students welcomed. Job typically ends when growing season ends but can extend beyond that. Work schedule is very flexible. You can choose to work 1, 2 or 3 days in any given week. if the available work times (i.e., Work-Windows) fit into your schedule. For any given day, with Work-Windows, you can choose to work 3, 4 or 5 hours. Even some Saturdays and Sundays have Work-Windows. Every Friday I post Work-Windows for the following week on Google Calendar. I tell Google to share that calendar with you. You will be able to see these Work-Windows on any computer and any on cell phone. Work-Windows are currently from 8am-1pm and from 2pm-8pm. These are not Work-Sessions. They are windows within which you can work from 3 to 5 hours, your choice. Some days will have both windows, some only one window and some days will have none. Each week is different. Some weeks you may wish to work while other weeks you may not. It's up to you. If any Work-Windows fall on days when you would like to work, then you inform me of your preferred from-to work times which are WITHIN those Work-Windows. With regard to my hiring steps, All info received from Applicants will be kept completely confidential. It will never be put online and will be deleted if an Applicant is not hired. [Step 1] requires no personal info from an Applicant. *** If you are UNWILLING to take any of the following steps then, please, DO NOT CONTACT ME. *** [Step 1] Applicant provides the following in its initial response to this ad: (a) First name: (b) Age and gender: (c) Height and weight: (d) Results of Residentail Requirement (see below)*: (e) Email address: (f) Phone number for texting: ..... I will NEVER CALL an applicant, ONLY TEXT. Please COPY the above [Step 1] and PASTE it into your response with you answers following the colons (:). NOTE: I will not be asking for Applicant's SS#. No federal or state withholdings will be made. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ * Residential requirement. Do the following - Using Google Maps (or any online mapping service) enter your residence address and the destination as Trading Post, 3017 Monacan Trail Rd, North Garden, VA 22959. It should show you the path from your home to that location, which is near to me. Enter that mileage and travel time above, [Step 1] (d). If you are no further away than 15 miles or 20 minutes then I will automatically consider you. If you are further away than that, but you still wish to apply for this job, you will need to add the following in your response to [Step 1] (d) - • Your street or road address (but not your house or apartment number). • Provide me with a reason why I should consider you anyway. I make this residential requirement because I have learned that the farther from me a Helper lives, the greater the likelihood that said Helper will abandon this job in favor of something closer. Note: If you get to [Step 3], where you provide a pic of your driver's license, if the general location which you provide here, in this [Step 1], does not conform to the address on your driver's license, you will need to explain this discrepancy without my having to ask for that explanation. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ [Step 2] Upon receipt of Applicant's [Step 1] info I will provide step-by-step details about how my work-scheduling system operates. As stated above, it is a very flexible system which enables a Helper to choose its preferred work times each week. Good for students with classes to attend. It's very simple once learned. Answers will be provided to any questions asked. [Step 3] Once an Applicant has indicated he/she understands the system and wishes to proceed, he/she must provide a picture of his or her driver's CURRENT license to confirm proof-of-identity. That is still the case even if you have an out-of-state license. No other proof-of-identity is acceptable. This step cannot be skipped. Applicant's driver's license pic WILL NOT be provided to anyone else. It wouldn't make any difference if it was, in that the customer number is obscured. It's just basic info with a picture. Applicant is REQUIRED to COVER his/her driver's license 'customer number' (or whatever the out-of-state license calls it... operator's number, ID number, whatever). However, cover nothing else when taking, and submitting, this picture. If your current driver's license does not display your current address, as would always be the case when it comes to out-of-state license holders, another method will be needed to provide proof of your currently location. I am not an ICE enforcer. I do not care where Applicants live and I will not be passing that info along to anyone else. However, I will not be providing my residential location to complete strangers without first having confirmation of their locations. Examples of current address confirmations (just the portion showing your name and current address): • Utility bill • Any online purchase receipt • Any credit card receipt • Any delivery receipt Note: When taking a pic of any of the above, make sure any account numbers are covered. [Step 4] Upon my receipt of Applicant's proof-of-identity (and of current address, if separate proof is also needed) I will provide instructions on how to access the shared calendar for seeing Work-Windows (i.e., work availabilities), a 2-step process. Applicant will use this calendar to determine a convenient time for a paid ($15/hr in cash), 2 or 3-hour interview Work-Session. Upon seeing those upcoming Work-Windows, Applicant can then make Work-Offers (via text) indicating its preferred times for an interview Work-Session (within one or more of those work-windows). Work-Windows: Designated times within which you could work. Work-Offers: Times you text to me that you would like to work. Work-Session: Actual work times… for which you are paid. [Step 5] Upon my receipt of Applicant's Work-Offers, as to its preferred days and times for an interview Work-Session, I will indicate my acceptance of one or two of those times. If a second interview Work-Session day and time is accepted, it will be as a back-up. [Step 6] I provide directions to my home the day before that interview Work-Session. Applicant comes, works and gets paid ($15/hr in cash). [Step 7] The day after the interview Work-Session, I and the Applicant inform one another if we wish to continue working together. If one or the other prefers not to then we go our separate ways. If we each wish to continue then we come to an agreement as to the Applicant's (hereafter referred to as a 'Helper') starting hourly wage rate. [Step 8] If we both wish to continue working together, then my online calendar, with its upcoming Work-Windows, is used by the Helper to determine what work-offers he/she wishes to make for the upcoming week. I will have finalized a week's Work-Windows on the preceding Friday morning, then - (a) Helper makes his/her work-offers between 12pm Friday and 8am Saturday, (b) On Saturday I review the work-offers which I have received (preferable via text but email is okay), (c) I notify that Helper of which of its offers I have chosen to accept (usually 2 or 3 a week), (d) I post, in our shared calendar, the finalized Work-Sessions to which we have mutually agreed and (e) the Work-Sessions take place for that week.* * Re: Work-Session cancellations: Once Work-Sessions are finalized, I do everything I can to make sure they take place. I know that Helpers depend on the income and I need to get work done. However, I realize that things happen which are often unforeseen or other already-set commitments are overlook. My goal is to stick to the work plan as best as I can and I ask Helpers to do the same. I also set up another calendar entry which will show you what we will be doing when you come for any given work-session. [Step 9] Repeat [Step 8] week-after-week as long as the Helper and I wish to continue. Helpers are not required to make work-offers each week... only if they wish to work. That's why I like to have two Helpers... so that every week someone will likely be working. ••• If an Applicant is responsive (i.e., doesn't drag its feet) then that Applicant CAN BE WORKING 3, 4 or 5-hour Work-Sessions once, twice or three times a week, at times which fits into its schedule, starting the week after the interview Work-Session. ••• I WILL TAKE DOWN THIS AD WHEN I HAVE HIRED THE HELPER I SEEK. It typically takes some time to find the right person. _________________
