In this role you will influence all aspects of fire protection design, construction, operions, and maintenance for our global fleet of da centers. This includes fire suppression, fire detection, fire alarm, and mass notificion systems, as well as fire-resistant construction and life safety. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document the various fire protection feures th our facilities require, using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches. As an Owner, you will strive to ensure the fire protection feures of our buildings protect our people and keep our customer’s da safe and uninterrupted over the life of the building. We expect you to contribute your expertise to the continual improvement of our fire protection design standards. Primary responsibilities will be to perform and oversee project-reled work, such as wer supply analysis and design for fire wer service to buildings, including coordinion with utilities and fire officials to establish basic site infrastructure requirements. The ability to coordine fire protection system space requirements, supporting utilities, and equipment locions, and to provide detailed construction specificions for all fire protection-reled trades will be expected. You will typically be responsible for the preparion of prescriptive designs for building fire suppression, alarm, and detection systems. In some cases, you will be expected to prepare or approve performance-based design elements as needed to support our goals. You will review all design disciplines to ensure they meet the minimum fire protection requirements described in our design standards. In some cases, you will oversee and review this work and in other cases you will perform the work yourself. As the team’s subject mter expert, you will ensure th contractors have the informion they need to build our da centers the way we expect them to, and th our operions teams are well equipped to opere and maintain them as needed to meet our goals. As part of this role you will work with internal and external stakeholders, including design, construction, commissioning, operions, vendors, and other service providers, as well as local building and fire officials. You will be part of a global team, and you will be an integral part of our work to change the world through technology. Key job responsibilities • Driving improvement of design standards and project approaches across the organizion. • Work with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). • Be responsible for providing high quality fire protection engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally while working with global fire protection engineering teams to achieve alignment of designs and design objectives. • Coordining with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for informion and value engineering queries. • Be responsible for construction documents, code compliance, design and installion standards, wer supply evaluion and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review. Meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of fire protection feures. • This position will require up to 25% travel. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 6+ years of da center design, construction, operions, or facility maintenance experience - 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: da centers, power generion or oil and gas facilities experience - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a reled field - Experience in da center design, construction, operions, or facility maintenance - Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of da center equipment and facilities - Experience applying local codes, Nional Fire Protection Associion (NFPA) standards, Internional Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other fire protection industry standards, procedures, and methodologies - Licensed Fire Protection Engineer PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge of building codes and regulions for your region - Experience carrying design concepts through explorion, development, and into deployment or mass production - Experience reading, interpreting, and creing construction drawings, specificions, and submittal documents Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discrimine on the basis of protected veteran stus, disability, or other legally protected stus.
