At Powell, an Electrical Engineer holding a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a reled engineering discipline with a focus on power and or control systems, will be the “technical face” on projects from concept to completion. You will be working with clients to design custom PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTU, and relay control panels to meet their technical specificions and quality standards within the constraints of the budget and the schedule. Additionally, an Electrical Engineer will learn industry standards and trends. Essential Responsibilities Design standard jobs with guidance to mch client specificions and requirements Draft electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD in conjunction with our wiring teams Gain design knowledge to engineer various control and relay panels Work with your Supervisor and the Project Management team to help interpret project write-ups, client specificions, drawings, and other correspondence during the life of the project Cree and valide Bills of Merials for client submittal and approval per Powell Standards Complete self-design reviews to verify accuracy and completeness of designs before issuing projects to Powell’s manufacturing floor for construction Gain the ability to provide technical support in client meetings Coordine with purchasing and suppliers to specify & approve component parts and assemblies Provide prompt notificion to supervisor and project management for issues th impact scope, budget, and schedule Coordine with the electrical design team for the final design and construction package to include schemics and wiring diagrams of the project Cree AC and DC schemics, door component layouts, wiring diagrams, and communicion drawings for project approval, construction and As-Built’s drawing submittals Provide technical support as necessary for sales, applicion engineering, and inspection teams throughout the life of the project Assist fellow production engineers in solving problems on a daily basis Adhere to Powell’s policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulions Meet regularly with clients, suppliers and OEMs Required Experience Is Proportione With the Selected Job Level The Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 0-3 years of relevant job reled experience The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 4-8 years of relevant job reled experience The Lead Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 7-10 years of relevant job reled experience Minimum Qualificions BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or reled area Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an Engineering role Ability to draft in AutoCAD Proficient with electrical design in PLC, SCADA, and relay control panels Basic understanding of power system, SCADA system, communicions, and relay applicions as applied to products Preferred Qualificions Previous experience with control panels Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements Ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects, schedules and budgets in a fast-paced environment Solid organizion, communicion, presention and planning skills Ability to carry out engineering development types of tasks and address production issues Demonstred ability to work collaborively with others in a cross-functional team environment Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot system-level problems Basic understanding of communicion drawings and point to point wiring diagrams Basic understanding to being very proficient with power distribution equipment (switchgear relays, PCR, E-Houses, etc.) Able to apply applicable sections of the Nional Electric Code and other codes and standards such as IEEE, ANSI and UL in day-to-day activities Able to form and apply cost competitive techniques to develop the most cost-effective solution for the engineered to order product Possess a strong customer service commitment Basic understanding to being very proficient drawing reviews (i.e., acquired knowledge of specificion items th Powell should take exception to and specificion items th require special tention; able to accurely interpret client specificions, etc.) Working & Environmental Conditions The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. There will be some work in a shop environment and exposure to the elements of our shop. Additionally there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
