Process Engineer Location: Charleston, SC Must be a US citizen or current green card holder. A North American leader in their manufacturing niche is in search of an experienced Process Engineer with an established background in process improvement and development to work in our largest manufacturing plant. You will support high-performance (self-directed) teams to resolve technical problems and ensure that resources are available for teams to plan, control, and improve their operation. You will assist in the development of team capability (technical, business, and interpersonal) through training, coaching and ensuring the continuous flow of information. The Process Engineer will also participate in goal setting and strategy deployment. Strong organizational and communication skills will be essential to ensure corporate standards are achieved safely. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities · Drive and manage Safety throughout the plant. · Ensure corporate engineering standards are achieved. · Act as a process expert and catalyst for continuous improvement. · Propose, sponsor and lead projects that will improve profitability, product performance, reduce costs, improve yields, or reduce cycle time using Lean and Six Sigma tools. · Optimizes metal profitability by improving both business and operational processes. · Help develop high performance teams to 1) get results, 2) exhibit teamwork, 3) demonstrate self-sufficiency, 4) communicate effectively. · Ensures that high-performance team have all resources and information necessary for self-sufficiency. · Use statistical analysis methods to effectively analyze process concerns and performance gaps. · Ensure that Control Plans are being utilized effectively to create process stability and control. · Monitor process performance to ensure that stated objectives are being met in terms of safety, first pass quality and productivity. · Provide leadership and support in TPM activities such as: collection of data through PMs, participating in maintenance planning, coordinating planned work during outages, and continuously improving the maintenance planning and execution process. The Laser Applications Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the development of laser processing for machine systems and component manufacturing. This position will be responsible for designing and completing trials in collaboration with sales for new product development. Mission to increase business revenue and technology using laser processing, both for Winbro’s machine tool systems and for component manufacturing. Develop internal laser applications trials to support marketing, sales, and tradeshows. Develop customer requested laser applications trials and testing to support further additional future business opportunities In collaboration with the sales team, monitor trends in the laser and optics industry to leverage and implement technologies to support Winbro growth. Assist in the production of feasibility studies/business plans for new product development. Identify and report any shortcomings of product offerings to help with future products. Majority of time expected to be in Winbro’s laser application laboratory and technology center. At times, customer support and internal service/continuous improvement support will be required. Knowledge of manufacturing processes – Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM), laser welding, laser drilling, laser micro-machining, and/or milling. Must be able to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
