Warehouse, Logistics & Customer Service Manager
National Appliance Liquidators is a rapidly growing appliance in-store and e-commerce retailer, liquidator, and wholesale operation serving the greater Seattle area and customers nationwide. We currently operate two retail/warehouse locations along with a dedicated warehouse and logistics facility, with plans underway for a significantly larger logistics center as we continue to expand.
Our growth has created the need for a strong, hands-on operations leader who can take ownership of warehouse execution, freight, delivery logistics, and customer service while helping us build the systems and processes needed for the next stage of the company.
National Appliance Liquidators is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Warehouse, Logistics & Customer Service Manager to take ownership of several critical areas of our growing operation.
This is not a desk-only management position. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable coordinating freight and solving customer issues as they are unloading product, organizing a warehouse, staging orders, or helping load a truck.
The right person will be proactive, disciplined, highly organized, and capable of solving problems without needing constant direction. This position requires someone who sees what needs to happen, takes ownership of it, and follows it through to completion. This is an opportunity to step into a key operational role within a growing company where the right person can have a direct impact on how our logistics and customer service operation is built and scaled.
Position Overview
The Warehouse, Logistics & Customer Service Manager will oversee the day-to-day flow of product through our operation, including warehouse activities, inbound and outbound freight, receiving coordination, local delivery scheduling, outbound order verification, and post-sale customer service.
You will serve as a key connection between our sales team, warehouse staff, delivery crews, freight carriers, service companies, customers, and management.
The goal of this position is simple: make sure the right product gets to the right place, in the right condition, at the right time, and make sure problems are handled professionally when something does not go according to plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
* Participate directly in day-to-day warehouse work, including loading, unloading, staging, moving, and organizing merchandise
* Maintain an organized, efficient, clean, and safe warehouse environment
* Coordinate the staging of customer orders, local deliveries, pickups, and freight shipments
* Make sure products are properly protected, packaged, palletized, and prepared before leaving the facility
* Verify that every outbound order is accurate before it leaves the building
* Help identify damaged, missing, incorrect, or improperly staged merchandise before it becomes a customer problem
* Coordinate warehouse priorities with sales, delivery, freight, and management
Receiving
* Coordinate incoming product and freight deliveries
* Verify incoming shipments against expected orders and documentation
* Identify shortages, incorrect products, visible freight damage, or other receiving discrepancies
* Ensure damage and discrepancies are properly photographed and documented
* Communicate receiving problems promptly to the appropriate parties
* Help create and maintain consistent receiving procedures
Local Delivery Logistics
* Schedule customer deliveries
* Create efficient delivery routes based on location, product, timing, truck capacity, and customer requirements
* Coordinate schedules with drivers, warehouse personnel, sales staff, and customers
* Make sure delivery teams have the correct products, paperwork, customer information, and special instructions before leaving
* Resolve delivery scheduling issues and operational problems as they arise
Freight & LTL Logistics
* Coordinate inbound and outbound LTL freight
* Obtain and compare freight rates to determine the best financial and service option for the company and customer
* Book freight pickups and deliveries
* Prepare bills of lading, shipping labels, freight documentation, and related paperwork
* Coordinate appointments, liftgate requirements, residential delivery requirements, and other freight accessorials
* Track shipments and proactively address delays, missed pickups, damages, shortages, or delivery problems
* Maintain productive relationships with carriers, brokers, and logistics providers
* Manage freight damage claims and supporting documentation when necessary
* Look for opportunities to reduce freight costs while maintaining reliable service
Customer Service & Product Service Coordination
* Serve as the primary operational point of contact for customer service issues after the sale
* Professionally communicate with customers experiencing product, delivery, damage, or service issues
* Gather the necessary information to determine the appropriate next step
* Coordinate warranty and manufacturer service cases
* Contact manufacturers, service companies, and technicians as needed
* Schedule service appointments and repairs
* Track open service issues through resolution
* Follow up with customers and service providers rather than allowing unresolved issues to sit
* Maintain clear documentation of customer issues, actions taken, and outstanding items
* Escalate unusual or significant issues to management when appropriate
Process Improvement & Accountability:
We are looking for someone who does more than react to problems.
The ideal candidate will identify recurring issues and help develop better processes to prevent them.
Examples might include:
* Improving outbound verification to prevent incorrect deliveries
* Creating better staging procedures
* Improving freight documentation
* Reducing freight costs
* Improving delivery routing
* Creating a better system for tracking service cases
* Improving communication between sales, warehouse, logistics, and customers
* Establishing checklists and procedures that reduce mistakes
This position will be expected to take ownership of their areas of responsibility and bring problems to management along with potential solutions.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
* Highly organized
* Dependable and disciplined
* Proactive rather than reactive
* Comfortable taking ownership and making decisions
* A strong problem solver
* Able to manage several priorities simultaneously
* Comfortable communicating with customers
* Comfortable dealing with difficult or frustrated customers professionally
* Detail-oriented
* Able to work independently without constant supervision
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes changing environment
* Willing and able to perform physical warehouse work
* Able to communicate effectively with warehouse employees, drivers, salespeople, vendors, freight carriers, service companies, customers, and management
* Cost-conscious and capable of making decisions with the financial interests of the company in mind
Experience with warehousing, logistics, LTL freight, routing, appliance service, customer service, or a similar operational environment is strongly preferred.
Experience in the appliance industry is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
Management Structure
This position works closely with our local operations team and reports directly to the company's local Operations Manager, with additional accountability to executive management.
The role is intended to take ownership of warehouse execution, logistics, delivery coordination, freight, and customer service so that responsibilities are clearly assigned and operational issues are handled quickly and consistently.
Physical Requirements:
This is a hands-on position.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a warehouse environment and regularly assisting with physical warehouse activities, including moving, staging, loading, and unloading appliances and other merchandise.
The successful candidate should expect to split their time between physical warehouse responsibilities and administrative/logistics/customer-service responsibilities.
The Person Who Will Succeed Here:
We are looking for someone who takes pride in running a tight operation.
You should be the type of person who notices that tomorrow's delivery is not staged correctly and fixes it before it becomes a problem.
If a freight carrier misses a pickup, you find out why and get another solution in place.
If a customer has an unresolved service problem, you follow it until there is an answer.
If the same mistake happens twice, you look for a way to prevent it from happening a third time.
This position has significant responsibility and will be an important part of keeping our operation organized as the company continues to grow.
Please send us a resume with a brief intro telling us why you'd be a great fit for this position.
