I am a board member of the Associated Alumni of Central High School, an alumni association that supports Philadelphia’s oldest public high school. Our nonprofit is looking for a full-time bookkeeper/accountant. Work would be performed three days a week onsite in our Philadelphia office at the school and two days remotely. We are looking for someone with nonprofit experience, a strong financial and accounting background and good communication skills. You would work independently and report to our organization's Executive Director. Responsibilities: - Perform general accounting tasks, including reconciling and maintaining balance sheet accounts - Utilize software such as Quickbooks and NEON and other accounting tools to manage financial data - Assist in budgeting and financial planning processes - Manage accounts payable functions - Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for management review - Ensure compliance with GAAP principles in all accounting processes - Support the organization by performing general accounting duties as needed - Working with the school’s President and teachers to administrate funding requests - Periodic outreach and communication with alumni and staff - Ad hoc projects as determined by our Executive Director Qualifications: - Proven work experience as a Bookkeeper, accountant or similar role - Non-profit experience preferred - QuickBooks and NEON experience preferred - Strong understanding of financial statements and financial report writing - Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial analysis - Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively Our organization is very small, flexible and friendly!
