The Project Manager will Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary capital facilities projects—overseeing scope, design, budgeting, execution, vendor/contractor management, risk, safety, and compliance—while aligning investments to business stregy, ensuring on‑time/on‑budget outcomes, and serving as a trusted SME and mentor across the organizion. Wh You’ll Work On Lead Complex Capital Projects Manage all phases of project execution—from scope development, design, and budgeting to scheduling, implemention, commissioning, and closeout. Use established Front End Planning (FEP) PM tools, cash flow projections, schedule/budget/scope control, etc.) to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. Develop project stregies th align with business goals and support long term organizional success. Writes and submits Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs) and associed package merials Manage collaborion with internal teams, external contractors, and multidisciplinary resources while ensuring optimal resource allocion. Facilities & Plant Engineering Focus Lead small, medium, and large capital projects involving building and infrastructure systems. Manage projects involving:Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems Chillers, boilers, and HVAC systems Process gases and process wer Lighting, flooring, rigging, and utility systems Building envelope integrity (roof, structural, façade) Parking lot and site improvements Ensure facility designs deliver long-term value, reliability, maintainability, and minimal infrastructure load. Vendor, Contractor & Procurement Leadership Collabore on and maintain stregic vendor partnerships and support contract negotiion in collaborion with corpore purchasing. Evalue supplier qualificions, performance, compliance, and adherence to engineering and safety standards. Manage the contractor bidding process to ensure consistency, integrity, and completeness of the contractor bids. Benchmark internally and externally to drive continuous improvement in vendor performance and facility outcomes. Stregic Influence Contribute to development of division-wide project management stregies, tools, and methodologies. Work closely with engineering, operions, EHS, finance, and procurement to align on priorities and best practices. Mentor and guide teams within and across divisions to eleve project management capability and technical excellence. Serve as a subject mter expert (SME) for facilities project delivery. Risk Management & Problem Solving Anticipe, identify, and mitige tactical and stregic risks through early assessment and mitigion stregies. Solve complex project and construction challenges by applying advanced project management principles and innovive approaches. Governance, Compliance & Safety Ensure projects comply with all relevant local and nional regulions and standards, including Abbott engineering standards and corpore requirements from Global Environmental, Health, and Safety (GEHS) and Global Engineering Services (GES). Demonstre full awareness of the potential consequences associed with design or engineering changes. Additional Impact Areas Contribute to and collabore with divisional project teams, task forces, and cross-functional improvement initiives. Coach others on capital expenditure documention, safety checklists, scope documents, and other supporting processes. Prepare and present project updes to senior leadership and diverse internal stakeholders Required Qualificions Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science or closely reled project management discipline is desired; Advanced degrees acceptable Minimum 12 years of experience in engineering, operions, and/or project management with a strong record of delivering complex programs Demonstred excellence in project planning, financial controls, forecasting, and project accounting; proficiency with procurement and contracting processes. Exceptional communicion, presention, negotiion, and stakeholder management skills; proven success leading cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced environments. Experience in highly reguled industries (healthcare, medical devices, diagnostics, or pharmaceuticals) preferred. Project management certificion preferred (e.g., PMP or equivalent). Deep facilities and plant engineering background, including MEP/HVAC, boilers/chillers, process gases/wer, utilities, and building envelope systems. Hands‑on experience with commissioning, startup, and turnover of facility assets.
