Utilize industry design software and general computer applications Engineering Design and Drafting Assistant Job Description: Engineering Design and Drafting Assistant is responsible for designing structural framing for residential projects and providing coordination with drafting staff. Job Responsibilities: - Reading and interpreting blueprints. - Generate framing layouts and run design calculations to ensure proper structural member sizing. - Ensure designs are accurate, optimized, conform to local building codes and meets the needs/expectations of the customer. - Assist with member repair details, provide job-site support, and other duties as required. - Properly manage time and work load in order to meet project deadlines. Job Requirements: - Ability to read and interpret Architectural & Structural blueprints. - Capable of operating a computer and run design software utilized in the industry. - Familiar with general computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, etc. - Good math skills including geometry, trigonometry, fractions, and understanding Architectural units. - Ability to calculate loads within a building; tributary loads, concentrated loads, and develop load paths. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - Ability to deal courteously with customers, co-workers, and construction personnel. Experience: - Associate's degree in a related area of study, or equivalent industry experience.
