Practical, shop-floor learning environment Workshop Apprentice About the Role We're looking for a motivated, hands-on Workshop Apprentice to join our team. This is a learning-focused position ideal for someone who's mechanically inclined, eager to develop real skills, and comfortable working with their hands. You'll receive training across a range of surface treatment, finishing, and fabrication processes — no prior experience is required, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential. This apprenticeship comes with the possibility of full-time employment within 3 months based on performance and fit. Responsibilities Operate and maintain a laser engraving system to mark, etch, and engrave parts and materials Assist with passivation processes to treat and protect metal surfaces Support anodization operations, including preparation, racking, and monitoring of parts Perform refinishing work on components, restoring surfaces to specification Set up and operate sandblasting equipment for surface preparation and cleaning Carry out light milling and grinding tasks using manual or CNC-assisted equipment Assist with laser welding operations under supervision Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times Track jobs, document processes, and communicate progress to the team Handle, inspect, and store materials and finished parts with care What We're Looking For Mechanically inclined with a genuine interest in fabrication, finishing, and metalwork Quick learner who takes direction well and asks good questions Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment Strong attention to detail — surface finishing work demands precision Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained Good attitude toward repetitive tasks and process-driven work Basic math skills (measuring, tolerances, unit conversion) Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads Nice to Have (Not Required) Prior shop, garage, or maker-space experience Familiarity with any of the listed processes Coursework or certifications in welding, machining, or manufacturing technology Experience reading technical drawings or work orders What We Offer Hands-on training across multiple skilled trades Possibility of full-time employment within 3 months Opportunity to grow into a specialist or senior technician role A practical, shop-floor learning environment
