IGPD has been working with locally sourced plants and florals to create arrangements for clients on the Big Island since 2018. Specializing primarily in orchid plant arrangements as well as cut flowers, plant staging and care. IGPD is dedicated to sustainability, especially when it comes to the materials we work with. We use only plants and florals locally sourced from farms in Hawaii. We only use “sustainable” mechanics (no floral foam)! We also opt for organic plant care as much as possible. We value the natural beauty of the materials we work with and do our best to showcase them in a simplistic organic design style. About the role: This position is so much more than just designing with flowers. We are looking for assistance with the day to day tasks of the floral business, while also providing an opportunity to work outside. Responsibilities: ● Floral design ● Picking flowers and foliages on the farm ● Receiving and processing materials ● Break down of boxes and packing ● Cleaning vessels, re-storing them ● Keeping inventory of vessels and work supplies ● Unloading and loading delivery vehicles ● Washing and organizing work buckets and tools ● Watering and fertilizing plants ● Organizing the plant nursery ● Greenhouse Debris and Weed Management ● Re-potting and propagating plants ● Coqui watch and prevention ● Tending to garden beds ● Seed starting ● Sorting green waste, cardboard, and trash items ● Local deliveries ● Weekly off site plant maintenance ● Feeding farm animals (ducks, chickens, and cow) ● Farm improvements and lawn mowing Candidate requirements: ● Motivated ● Dependable ● Positive ● Adaptable ● Organized ● Sustainability values ● Basic plant knowledge ● Personal vehicle ● Able to stand for the greater part of the work day ● Willingness to work outdoors in the sun or rain ● Able to lift heavy materials up to 50lbs (for example: potted plants, bagged soil, water buckets etc.) ● Likes dogs :) Interested?
