Manage projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams Apply Now Description Leidos is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the NISC IV Program in the Eastern Service Area. This position is expected to travel 25%. Primary Responsibilities: Perform HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boiler, wer distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems design for FAA facilities. Perform on-site surveys to develop “to-scale” designs and detailed reports, Genere sketches showing relion of proposed installion in existing or new facilities with exact specificions and dimensions. Participe in construction inspections and final inspections Confer with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve problems with the design or implemention. Coordine design components with a multi-disciplinary as required for site-specific modificions and new construction. Prepare Autocad construction drawings and prepare site-specific specificions and contract documents and independent cost estimes. Perform project management reled tasks and communicion (including safety plans, sequence of work, cutover plans). Genere and coordine the Integred Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communicion plans, project risk register, to meet Operional Risk Management (ORM) requirements. Coordine and complete Work Permits required for potential impact to lead and asbestos th may be encountered during construction. Participe in meetings inclusive of the pre-construction meeting and on-site construction meetings with stakeholders to coordine with other ongoing construction and projects. Plan, schedule, and coordine construction project activities to meet milestones and deadlines; working directly with stakeholders and contractors. Manage and participe in on-site cutovers, testing and restorion of facilities. Prepare, maintain, and provide periodic updes of project to team, management, and stakeholders. Manage multiple projects towards successful on-time completion. Review contractor design and construction submittals. Perform internal design reviews of FAA designed Terminal Engineering projects. Track and reconcile and coordine closure of JAI project exceptions. Review project deliverables and provide verbal and written communicion to the findings. Provide and coordine timely response for project RFIs (Requests for Informion) and project reled submittals. Monitor progress of projects and stakeholder needs Work independently to evalue, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgement in making adaptions and modificions to Engineering designs Required Skills and Educion: Must have a Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited College/University At least 4 years of experience with mechanical systems design including HVAC and plumbing systems with commercial, industrial and/or government facilities Must have current and relevant knowledge of building and energy codes in order to be able to perform heing and cooling load calculions, ductwork sizing and layout, piping calculions and distribution, sections/elevions, and equipment sizing and selection. Working knowledge of Microsoft applicions MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applicions, and be able to use the Internet as a ghering and communicing tool. Proficiency with AUTOCAD / MICROSTATION. Effectively communice in written and verbal form in person or virtual (via Teams or Zoom) Accomplish clear and concise general and technical writing and tactfully coordine with a variety of project stake holders, peers and management levels. Ability to maintain an electronic project folder (as required) reled to site preparion and equipment installion problems. Provide technical assistance and recommendions regarding the closure of construction reled punch-list items. Must be able to conduct efficient, organized da ghering, and da analysis. Ability to develop project plans, establish project schedules, project estimes. Provide organized documention. Must be able to work independently in a large Engineering Organizion  Basic knowledge of multiple disciplines regarding their general requirements for typical standard types of projects. Ability to discuss project reled items with stakeholders, contractors and code reled Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Be able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
