Summary: The Shedd Institute's Community Music School is seeking an energetic Piano Instructor with a focus on music theory and varied styles, capable of teaching all levels. Highlights: 1. Shedd Institute is a non-profit performing arts company, educational institute and venue that serves Oregon with year-round professional performances, educational programs for all ages, and venue rental for nonprofit organizations. The mission of our Community Music School is to promote lifelong amateur music making. RESPONSIBILITIES: The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts Community Music School seeks an energetic Piano Instructor with skill emphasis areas in music theory, varied styles and ability to teach all levels. Shedd faculty teach private lessons, classes and camps on-site and special classes off-site, depending on the individual’s skills, expertise and breadth of repertoire. QUALIFICATIONS and ATTRIBUTES: • Bachelor’s degree preferred. • Breadth of repertoire and pedagogical approaches desired. • Intermediate to advanced piano accompanying ability. • Minimum two years teaching experience preferred (privately or school-based). • Ability to pass FBI criminal background check. • Ability to work within established guidelines and systems and as a team faculty member.
