Work in outdoor industrial settings with heavy materials We are seeking an experienced Scrap Metal Burner / Torcher to safely cut, dismantle, and process scrap metal using oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment. This role requires strong attention to safety, the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments, and experience handling heavy materials and equipment. Key Responsibilities: • Cut and dismantle scrap metal using oxy-acetylene, propane, or plasma torches • Identify different types of metals and materials for proper processing • Prepare scrap materials for recycling, transport, or further processing • Operate torches and related equipment in compliance with safety regulations • Inspect equipment before use and perform basic maintenance • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area • Follow all company, OSHA, and environmental safety procedures • Work closely with yard supervisors, equipment operators, and other yard staff Qualifications & Requirements: • Previous experience as a metal burner/torcher or similar role preferred • Knowledge of oxy-fuel cutting techniques and torch safety • Ability to identify common scrap metals (steel, iron, aluminum, etc.) • Physically able to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor conditions • Strong awareness of workplace safety and fire prevention • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team • Valid driver’s license (preferred, not always required) Work Environment: • Outdoor scrap yard or industrial setting • Exposure to heat, sparks, dust, and heavy machinery • Requires use of PPE including gloves, face shields, flame-resistant clothing, and safety boots Schedule & Compensation: • Full-time or part-time, depending on operational needs • Competitive pay and benefits. • Overtime opportunities may be available
