Front of House (FOH) Floor Manager
Position Summary
The FOH Floor Manager oversees daily front-of-house operations, ensuring excellent guest service, smooth communication, and an organized, professional dining environment. This role leads the service team during shifts, resolves guest concerns, maintains operational standards, and works closely with kitchen and management teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise FOH employees, including servers, hosts, bartenders, bussers, and food runners.
* Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate reservations, menu updates, service expectations, and special events.
* Monitor the dining room throughout service to maintain efficiency, cleanliness, and hospitality standards.
* Support employees during busy periods and adjust floor assignments as needed.
* Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure accurate, timely food and beverage service.
* Welcome guests, monitor satisfaction, and professionally resolve complaints or service issues.
* Train, coach, and provide ongoing feedback to FOH employees.
* Enforce company policies, dress codes, health regulations, and responsible alcohol-service requirements.
* Manage opening and closing procedures, including checklists, cash handling, POS reports, and facility security.
* Monitor reservations, table flow, wait times, and seating capacity.
* Assist with scheduling, attendance management, inventory checks, and supply ordering.
* Document shift notes, employee concerns, guest incidents, and maintenance needs.
* Help achieve sales, labor, service, and cost-control goals.
* Promote a respectful, positive, and team-oriented workplace.
Qualifications
* At least 2 years of front-of-house restaurant or hospitality experience.
* Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
* Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
* Working knowledge of restaurant POS systems, cash handling, and reservation platforms.
* Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service practices.
* Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
* Food-handler and alcohol-service certifications as required by local regulations.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 30–50 pounds.
* Ability to bend, reach, and move safely through busy service areas.
* Ability to work in an environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
