This woman-owned and operated business has been curating landscapes for residents of Humboldt County for over 25 years. Our tight-knit team provides high-quality services for residential clients living between Ferndale and Trinidad. This is not a mow-and-blow landscaping job. We specialize in fine gardening, which requires plant knowledge, attention to detail, and an appreciation for aesthetics. We are looking for someone who notices the difference between a shrub that has simply been cut back and one that has been thoughtfully pruned, and who enjoys the process of creating gardens that are both beautiful and healthy. We're looking for someone who already has hands-on experience working with plants and is excited to continue building their horticultural skills. Our services cover most aspects of caring for gardens and landscapes, including skilled pruning, drip irrigation, plant installation, applying mulch, fertilization, weeding, raking, hedging, and weed eating. We use a variety of hand tools as well as battery-operated equipment such as hedge shears, string trimmers, and blowers. We're a small company and invest heavily in training with the goal that employees can eventually work independently. It often takes six months or more before a crew member is ready to work independently on client properties without direct supervision. Because of this, the position is best suited for applicants seeking long-term employment who are interested in developing their horticultural skills and growing with the company. This is a year-round part-time position with a starting pay of $19–$22 per hour, depending on knowledge and experience. Hours vary by season and typically increase in summer and decrease in winter. We generally work from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Ideal applicants will be available to work a consistent schedule at least three days per week. Required Qualifications: • Prior experience in and demonstrated passion for this line of work. Your experience may be in landscaping, horticulture, nursery work, farming, or caring for your own property. • Ability to balance an exceptional eye for detail with working quickly and efficiently. • Openness to feedback and willingness to ask questions. • Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform repetitive physical labor throughout an entire shift. • Smartphone for communication throughout the day and for logging hours in our payroll app. • Reliable personal vehicle for travel between job sites (a truck without a shell is a plus.) • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
