D/B/A Instacart in San Francisco, CA seeks Staff Software Engineer (Multiple Openings). Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of Instacart’s complex e-commerce platform and underlying data infrastructures, including the integration and testing of new and existing features to optimize performance and scale backend systems. Duties include: developing and implementing innovative techniques using advanced data modeling, computer and information science, and engineering principles to optimize and troubleshoot high-functioning solutions, while continuously scaling on-demand systems and underlying infrastructure; developing and maintaining real-time and near real-time high scale systems using complex data models and large amounts of data from various sources; performing independent analysis of current software, including diagnosis and troubleshooting, determining design solutions to problematic programming, and implementing modifications to ensure optimal performance and continued scalability; mentoring lower-level engineers as needed; and other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental United States but will report directly to Instacart headquarters in San Francisco, CA. Education: Master’s* degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related (or foreign equivalent). Requirements: 2* years of experience in the job offered or related. Other special requirements include: 2 years of experience working with Python, PHP, Ruby, SQL, or similar scripting languages; 2 years of experience working with cloud-hosting platforms like Rackspace, Azure, or AWS; 2 years of experience working with MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or similar data management systems; 2 years of experience working with client/server architectures and application architectures; 2 years of experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines; and 2 years of experience designing platforms and infrastructure to improve efficiency and accessibility of data processing. *In lieu of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related (or foreign equivalent) and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related (or foreign equivalent) and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related.
