Description

Summary: This role involves coordinating service assignments, providing frontline support, and contributing to general operations within an early-stage company that connects customers with local talent in rural Alaska. Highlights: 1. Opportunity to have a massive impact on company culture and processes 2. High growth potential as the company expands services 3. Meaningful work changing how work is done in rural Alaska Title: Operations Associate Company: Remote Hands (remotehandsak.com) Location: Anchorage, AK (Primarily In-Person / Hybrid) Status: Full-Time, salaried | May travel on occasion and work weekends/after hours, depending on job. About Remote Hands Alaska Remote Hands is a tech-enabled services company that makes it easy for organizations to hire, manage, and pay local talent in every corner of Alaska. While we use a modern app marketplace model, we are people-first. Unlike "gig apps" like Uber or DoorDash, our workers—our "Hands"—are W-2 employees, fully vetted, insured, and managed/supported by our central office. In that way, we operate more like a specialized, fractional staffing agency for rural Alaska. We hold contracts with major businesses and government organizations, and we are responsible for coordinating our trusted network to ensure every job is completed successfully. Currently, the majority of our work focuses on IT and tech support (such as Starlink installs, computer set-up, and network maintenance), but we're offering something broader: We are building the definitive way to hire local for anything, anywhere in rural Alaska. --- Why We Need You As an early-stage startup, we’re building the engine as we go - and now we need a high-energy operator to help us drive it. The Operations Associate is the primary link between our customers’ needs and our local "Hands" in the field. You won't just be checking boxes; you will be problem-solving in real-time to ensure that a technician in a remote village has the tools, the knowledge, and the support they need to get the job done. Why Join Us? Early-Stage Opportunity: This is a "foundational hire" role. You will have a massive impact on the company’s culture and processes from day one. High Growth: As we expand from IT services into "anything, anywhere," your role will grow with us. We are looking for future leaders. Meaningful Work: Every dispatch you coordinate helps put money in the pocket of a community member instead of going to pay someone from outside - we're changing how work gets done in rural Alaska. What You’ll Do 1. Dispatch & Job Coordination Coordinate service assignments across rural Alaska, matching the right worker to the right job based on location, skills, and credentials. Monitor active assignments in real-time—tracking progress, troubleshooting site issues, and rerouting resources when conditions change. Serve as the daily bridge between the central office, our field workers, and our clients to ensure everyone is aligned. 2. Frontline Helpdesk & Support Issue Resolution: Provide first-tier support for clients and workers—answering questions, troubleshooting basic tech issues, and escalating complex problems when needed. Response Management: Manage incoming requests via email, phone, and platform messaging, ensuring we hit our service commitments every time. Knowledge Building: Help create the "Remote Hands Playbook" by developing FAQs, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles so our network can solve problems independently. 3. General Operations Support Process Improvement: Help us build the plane while we fly it by developing and improving our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Leadership Support: Work directly with the founding team on coordination, follow-ups, and keeping the company organized. Product Feedback: Interface with our developers to report bugs and suggest new features for our platform based on what you see happening in the field. Who You Are Must-Haves: - Organized & Reliable: You are consistent, organized, and task-oriented. You track details, follow through, and rarely let a ball drop. - Strong Communicator: You’re comfortable on the phone with a village elder, over email with a federal project manager, and in planning meetings with your team. - Ambiguity-Friendly: Comfort figuring things out and building the plan as we go. - Tech-Comfortable: You learn new platforms fast. You aren't intimidated by ticketing systems, or helping someone troubleshoot a router over a satellite link. - People-Oriented: You genuinely enjoy helping people succeed, whether it's a nervous new worker or a client in a crunch. - Drivers License: You must possess and maintain a driver’s license. - Minimum Education: You must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Nice-to-Haves: - Experience in services dispatch, logistics, or helpdesk operations. - Familiarity living/working in rural Alaska, in particular small rural-remote communities. - Experience with IT support, ticketing systems, or technical troubleshooting Note: The right mindset matters more than the perfect resume. We're looking for someone resourceful who takes extreme ownership. How to Apply Ready to build the future of work in rural Alaska? Please send your resume and a short note about why you're a fit for this role.
