Puppy for Rehoming

Description

A few months ago, our family started looking for a puppy to join us. We were contacted by someone local who told us she had what she believed to be Dachshund mixes, around 10 weeks old, although she wasn’t sure what breed the dad was. After bringing our girl home and having her seen by two different veterinarians, we learned that she was actually much younger than we had been told, estimated to be around 5 weeks old at the time. She was very skinny and sick when we got her, but we have worked hard to get her healthy, and she’s come such a long way. We still aren’t 100% sure what breed she is. Based on her appearance and growth, we suspect she may have some Pitbull or other terrier mix in her, but we cannot confirm her breed or adult size. We estimate she’s now around 11–12 weeks old. She has received her first round of parvo vaccinations, and we want to be completely upfront with any potential new family about her history and everything we know about her. Unfortunately, a personal situation has come up within our family, and our circumstances have changed. We also believe she may grow into a larger dog than we originally anticipated. Had we known that from the beginning, we likely would have made a different decision, especially considering our current living situation. She’s a sweet girl who is good with children and cats. We haven’t had enough experience to say for certain how she does with other dogs, but we believe she may really enjoy having a companion and a playmate. She has a lot of energy and needs room, exercise, and stimulation. We’ve noticed that when she doesn’t get enough opportunity to run and burn off that energy, she can become destructive. This is not a decision we’re making lightly. We want her to have a home where she has the space, time, attention, and care she deserves. Our goal is to find her a loving family who understands that she’s still a puppy and is willing to continue working with her as she grows. We want to be fully transparent so that she doesn’t end up in a situation where her new family feels misled about her age, breed, or potential size. She deserves a family that’s prepared for her needs and committed to giving her a wonderful life.
