Energy Manager Job Description The Energy Manager will complete the tasks associated with NYSERDA PON 3701 including: • Initiate and develop an energy management plan within the first three months of beginning the project. • Develop and maintain an energy tracking and monitoring system. This will include compiling monthly energy consumption and cost data for all electric and natural gas utility meters and building submeters (if applicable). • Develop and/or maintain a cross-functional energy team and hold monthly meetings. • Develop a strategy for energy savings Measurement & Verification. • Conduct walkthrough audits and reports that identify savings opportunities for further investigation. • Review maintenance operational schedules and procedures to identify operational savings opportunities and develop preventative maintenance plan. • Schedule at least one employee training session to address the identified operational energy saving opportunities. • Develop and propose energy-savings projects, including developing the business case for implementing the projects. • Manage energy saving projects related to capital improvements, low and no cost operational initiatives, preventative maintenance, HVAC and lighting controls, and behavior change, in collaboration with the Facilities Department. • Report progress to NYSERDA: participate in NYSERDA kick-off and exit meetings and project management check-ins with NYSERDA via conference call at least once per month. • Provide quarterly savings reports that document results from both capital upgrades and operational changes. Provide a final report that documents overall effort and progress toward facility energy reduction goal. • Develop a case study of the energy manager pilot, including savings metrics, for online publishing. • Develop a road map of the onsite energy manager process, for online publishing. • Compile required project deliverables associated with required tasks. Minimum Qualifications • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in engineering, environmental science, architecture, HVAC technology, energy management, or a related field with at least five (3) years of related energy management experience. Preferred Qualifications • Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Building Operator Certification, LEED Accredited Professional, or another relevant professional certification. • At least ten (5) years of related energy management experience, ideally in the Healthcare sector. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Knowledge of energy management, HVAC equipment and controls, lighting systems, Building Management Systems/Building Automation Systems, energy audit methodology, and potential energy conservation measures. • Ability to identify and implement energy saving opportunities related to operational initiatives, preventative maintenance, and capital improvements. • Demonstrated business acumen and leadership skills necessary for effectively presenting energy saving projects to the administration. • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills. • Ability to utilize a computer and relevant software such as Microsoft Excel and Word and HVAC controls programs. • Ability to analyze problems, identify and implement effective solutions, and achieve results. • Ability to effectively interact as a team member with the goal of achieved shared objectives.
