We are an entrepreneurial firm that is on track for aggressive growth, and we need an experienced contract attorney to work directly with the owner and the support team while helping our clients.
We want to be known for helping our clients resolve the simple to complex landlord-tenant matters that arise in the Bay Area effectively and empathetically. We are growing fast, and we need a contract attorney who can hit the ground running.
This position will be responsible for important tasks, including:
1. Empathetic engagement with clients to develop and maintain client relationships with firm.
2. Maintaining client confidences as required by firm policies and rules of the State Bar of California to ensure firm’s continuing compliance with its ethical obligations to clients.
3. Direct communications with clients to respond to discovery and prepare pleadings on time and with excellent work product.
4. Document review, revision, and preparation with clients.
5. Develop legal strategies for client matters consistent with firm’s goals and expectations to deliver high-quality and efficient legal services on every case.
6. Draft high-quality and error-free discovery, discovery responses, pleadings, correspondence, and other case-related documents.
7. Review, edit, and revise Judicial Council forms as needed for each case.
8. Prepare clear case summaries of documents, discovery responses, and deposition transcripts in a timely manner for use in development of client matters.
9. Thorough legal research to efficiently and effectively develop client matters, including but not limited to research into case law, statutes, local municipal codes, practice guides, law review articles, as well as general online research.
10. Meet with attorney on a semimonthly basis to discuss new client matters, pending client matters, and upcoming hearings.
11. Communications necessary to the matter, including but not limited to communications by telephone and email with opposing counsel, co-counsel, experts, court, court staff, and claims adjusters.
12. Use firm’s email and document management systems. Access documents, create new documents, and save documents to firm’s document management system.
13. Report billable time in law firm time management system by the end of each day.
14. Invoice owner semimonthly for work performed for firm.
15. Participate in trainings on law firm policies on a quarterly basis.
16. Maintain own lawyer’s malpractice insurance throughout relationship with firm and provide proof of same to owner.
