Litigation Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
Active California bar admission in good standing
Demonstrated experience serving as primary or lead counsel on civil litigation
State and federal court litigation exposure, including trial experience
Defense-side background (public entity, police, civil rights, or related preferred)
Proven ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
Skilled in legal research, writing, and strategic case management

Background in public entity, police, or civil rights defense
Familiarity with Section 1983-related litigation
Experience with administrative hearings or disciplinary proceedings
Strong judgment and ability to perform under pressure

Litigation Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of state and federal civil litigation as primary counsel
Draft, file, and argue motions—including dispositive and pretrial motions
Conduct and defend depositions
Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and oral arguments
Prepare cases for trial, including strategy and witness preparation
Maintain compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements
